First there is building, the joyful act of making a place, carving out habitat, establishing location for living, working, selling, and teaching.
We see the act of designing and constructing buildings to be a continuous creative effort, not separated by the usual disciplinary boundaries, but joined by the necessary ethos of design and vision required throughout the process of making.
Each architect, builder, owner is part of the design process, and the design process continues through occupancy, use and reuse of all buildings: constant choices being made about where to sit, how to paint, whether to modify a place, either temporarily or permanently.
Thus we are builders first. All that we do is about building, from the faintest concepts to the actual construction. We build on paper, we build on land, we build in neighborhoods and we build on earth.
